Who the work is for
I help primarily fractionals and consultants with business development on LinkedIn. The approach avoids traditional hard-sell tactics. It is a done-for-you service for a flat monthly fee.
My schedule is often full, but I can usually squeeze in a few more clients when the fit is right.
What “done for you” actually includes
I consult with you, build target lists of people you would want to network with, and reach out to them on LinkedIn. Depending on the engagement, I may also help talk with those people and, when it makes sense, set up meetings so you can have real conversations with networking partners.
Those partners sometimes become clients. That is not the goal of the list. It is not a prospect list. It is a list of networking partners who can refer you to business.
Referrals on purpose, not by accident
My view is that consultants and fractionals get most of their work through referrals and introductions. The problem is that many people wait for those referrals to fall in their lap.
Industry data keeps agreeing with that instinct. Consulting Success’s marketing survey of consultants found that for more than half of respondents, about 60 percent of their business came via referral. Consultancy Growth Network’s 2022 BenchPress report, based on 254 independent consultancies, put referrals as the leading source of new clients at 41 percent—yet only 12 percent of firms said they had fully implemented a sales referral strategy. Firms that had grown faster: 52 percent of those with a fully implemented referral strategy grew more than 25 percent the prior year, versus 38 percent of those that had not.
Hinge Research Institute’s referral study of professional services firms adds another useful detail: 81.5 percent of providers reported receiving a referral from someone who was not a former client. Referral networks are wider than “past customers who liked you.”
My service runs a process that is repeatable, testable, and scalable to drive those referrals instead of hoping for them. If you know someone who needs that kind of help, point them here: the LinkedIn BizDev page, or book a networking chat.
